• ONE DAY SEMINAR ON ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING (ERP). Successfully conducted on 20^th June 2007 at MCCIA trade tower, in Pune.

More than sixty officials participated in the Seminar, which included Chairman, Directors, Executives, IT Professionals, Consultants, Chartered Accountant, etc., from various cities such as Surat, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad. 

  Here is a brief report:

1. Mr. Milind Kshirsagar, CEO, Broadband Division, Maharashtra & Goa Circle, Reliance Communications Ltd. spoke on cost effective Data Centre for SMEs and usage of Broadband.  He explained in detail about Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group’s investment in the broadband services.  This will be useful for organizations having multi-location offices / plants and also facilitate executives who are constantly on the move.

2. Mr. M. Radhakrishnan, Joint Managing Director, Autoline Industries Ltd., Pune shared his experience of implementing ERP in his organization, the problems faced during implementation and the real benefits of a well developed ERP Software.

3. Mr. V. Jankiraman, Promoter, Eenablers, Mumbai, gave a lucid presentation on how Men, Material and Money were important in an ERP.  He gave tips on how small things could be useful for effective implementation of ERP.  He recommended that for SMEs, instead of a ‘big bang’ approach, ERP should be implemented in a phased manner (module wise).  He suggested seven major milestones : Requirements, Client Engagement, Project planning & Execution, Configuration Management, Development & Testing, Implementation and finally Hand over i.e. GO LIVE.

4. Mr. Sanjay Belhe, Director, Protocontrol Instruments I. Pvt. Ltd., Pune shared his experience of implementing DNS ERP in his Organization.   He explained that, ‘Protocontrol’ had many exceptional scenarios while dealing in about 3500 items. He said that the initial one month of ‘painful’ time was experienced during changeover phase from their erstwhile legacy system to the present ERP software.  However, now the whole scenario had changed and that he could peacefully go home at SIX o’clock without worry.  In case a client calls up he is confident to take the query and respond within a minute with help of DNS ERP Software

5. Mr. Surinder Agarwal, Director, Care Pack Pvt. Ltd., Pune explained his experience of benefits after implementing ERP in his Organization.  He expressed happiness that he could get ISO 9000 certification easily because of DNS ERP system.  He is now in a position to prepare accurate quotation automatically.  The stock in hand is now being preciously monitored because of ERP.  He is dealing with leading multinational corporate such as PepsiCo, L’Oreal, Bajaj Auto Ltd., etc. 

6. Mr. Jyotindra Zaveri, CEO, DNS e-BUSINESS CONSULTANCY demonstrated advance features of ERP.   He repeatedly emphasized on importance of tightly integrating business processes so that reports were available instantly without depending on individuals.  He discussed in depth various modules including Bill of Material (BOM), Production, Purchase, Sales and many more.  He explained that BOM is useful for costing and how the same was useful in companies which have Sub-contracting out. 

7. Mr. S Mohan, CFO, DNS e-BUSINESS CONSULTANCY discussed “Reasons for ERP success / failure and Implementation methodology in SMEs.  He stressed on the significance of documentation.  He explained that customization should be kept to minimum and the entire implementation would go hay wire if there were frequent chopping & changing.  He dwelt on the need for detailing the requirements during the beginning of implementation of ERP in an organization.
