      It is a major factor in case of prevention of TB. The masses should be made aware of the causes & symptoms of this infectious disease so that they can prevent themselves against the disease. In social awareness, media plays a lead role. People can be told about TB by some documentary films, street plays, newspapers etc. Literacy is another major part of social awareness. This should be of major concern in India aswell. The educated people should come forward & make the illiterate know about TB.

TB transmission is less likely to occur in properly ventilated and uncrowded environments. Tuberculosis association with poverty is aggravated by the fact that those who live in crowded and poor circumstances are at great risk of exposure. Tuberculosis can be treated effectively through widely available drugs, but 50% of them are left untreated and will die of disease.

Social mobilization plays a major role in increasing awareness by reducing stigma, improving the visibility and importance of tuberculosis among the people.
