Upgrade your ERP solution to
the higher levels - to e-Business - e-commerce.
First level:
ERP is deployed. Go 'live'. Users
are entering 'real-time' transactions. Internet is not-a-must
to use ERP because data and ERP are installed on LAN.
Second level:
Upgrade to ERP dot net
version. User can access ERP software using 'browser' such as Mozilla
Firefox or Google Chrome. But still the backend database is on the server
computer installed within four walls of the office. Internet is not-a-must
to use ERP because data and ERP are installed on LAN.
Third level:
ERP dot net version used. User
can access ERP software using 'browser'. Server computer
installed within four walls of the office, but with permanent
internet connection, with static IP address. Server should be
always ON. Users can access ERP using browser and internet
connection, anywhere, anytime. Internet is required in case of
remote access or multi-location working.
Fourth level:
Cloud computing. Upload backend
database on the website. User can access ERP using browser, from anywhere,
anytime. There is NO server computer required to be 'always on' in the
office. Users can 'work from home', or from anywhere, anytime.
Internet is a must.
Fifth level:
Optional. If you
are planning to setup an ecommerce website, you will need a mechanism to
collect money. That is the ‘Shopping-cart software’ that make easier for buyers
to actual buy or place orders, online. A shopping cart can determine
transport (shipping) costs, calculate VAT (sales tax), and automatically send
order confirmations to your customers. Internet is a must.
